The Institute of Physics' Public Engagement Grant Scheme is currently open for applications (until 8 November). The scheme provides grants of up to £1,000 to individuals and organisations running physics-based events and activities during 2011.

The scheme is not limited to members of the Institute of Physics, but is open to researchers in academia or industry, schools, museums, community groups, not-for-profit organisations, arts groups and libraries.

Previous projects supported include a pre-school rocket-building workshop, Physics Busking in Nottingham and a Harvesting Sunshine: a solar energy family fun day.

Applications must be received by 12 noon on 8 November 2010 and there will be a further round in 2011.

Application forms, guidance and further information is available from the website here.
