Funding is available for the creation of new ponds through the Biffaward Million Pond Project Pond Digging Fund for ponds which meet the following criteria:

•  Have a clean water source

•  Are to be left to colonise naturally

•  Are to be left to thrive without undue disturbance

or

•  Is to be created specifically for a pond associated BAP (UK Biodiversity Action Plan) species.

Sites should be located within 10 miles of a landfill operation (current or disused) and within 25 miles of a Biffa operation. There could be some flexibility about the Biffaward 25 mile rule. You need to contact your Project Officer to discuss this.
The funding round will open for applications during Autumn 2010 and will close in January 2011.
