The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation has announced changes to the 'strands' element of its funding. Strands are thematic funding streams outside of its main grants fund. The changes are:

Biodiversity strand - this strand will close at the end of 2010 and applications are no longer being accepted. The Foundation will continue to fund environmental work and is developing ideas for future themes which should be finalised early in 2011

Food strand
- this strand will continue into 2011

Museum and Heritage Collections strand - this strand will close in its current form at the end of 2010 and applications are not currently being accepted. The Foundation is in discussions with the Museums Association and expects to be offering an adapted version of this strand in 2011

New Approaches to Learning strand - this strand will close at the end of 2010 and is no longer accepting applications.

For more information on the changes to the strands, see here.

Some applications which might have been made to the strands funding streams may be eligible to apply to the Foundation's

main fund. See the main fund guidelines here.
