Humber Learning Consortium South Yorkshire (HLC) are offering a free course funded through Community Grants (Community Grants is part-funded by the European Union through the European Social Fund (ESF) and is co-financed by the Skills Funding Agency):


Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS), Northern College, Barnsley
The course runs in two parts, the first part from 13 - 16 December 2010 and the second part from 14 - 17 February 2011. You will stay at the College for three nights each time and receive free bed, breakfast and lunch. Participants can choose to attend on a non-residential basis if they wish. To be eligible to attend, you must be a member of staff, volunteer or trustee of a community group or social enterprise with less than £300,000 annual turnover; no more than nine full-time equivalent staff; and no direct European Social Fund/Department for Work and Pensions contracts.

Certificate and Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS and DTLLS)
HLC South Yorkshire is asking for expressions of interest in the following free courses: Level 3 or Level 4 Institute of Leadership and Managment (ILM) courses; and free Level 3 Information, Advice and Guidance courses.


Community Grants also offers Capacity Building Grants of up to £12,000 to help small community groups in South Yorkshire improve the quality of learning they provide for hard-to-reach, workless adults. Possible activities the grants could support include becoming an accredited learning centre (NOCN, City and Guilds etc); achieving quality marks (Matrix, Investors in People, Training Quality Standard); or organising bespoke training for your volunteers and staff.
