SYFAB:Allia charitable bonds
16 December 2010
Allia is a charity bonds scheme which makes grants to selected charities and not-for-profit organisations through some of the money raised through bond issues. See here for an explanation of how it works.
The types of causes that may be supported include those which:
* Address issues of social and economic exclusion (e.g. poverty, unemployment, work-limiting illness or disability, family breakdown, homelessness, etc.)
* Bring social benefit in developing countries
* Provide social welfare or care for the vulnerable
* Support people through ill-health or research medical cures
* Address environmental issues for social benefit.
Broadly speaking, Allia wish to support causes that give people a better future.
Allia will shortly be taking applications from charities and other not-for-profit organisations interested in receiving grants through the next bond issue in April 2011. You can contact Allia now to express your interest in this. Because Allia is a community benefit society, organisations they decide to support need become a member of Allia by making a minimum investment of £250 - £500 depending on the size of the organisation. There is also an annual registration fee. See here for more information on this.
For more information see the Allia website here.
