Waste Recycling Environmental Limited (WREN) have some updates for their Main and Small Grant schemes.

The final deadline for both the Main and Small Grants schemes in Yorkshire will be 23 November 2011, with decisions due in March 2012.

WREN would like to encourage potential applicants to make contact to see if they are eligible to apply for funding, before they take time to submit a full application form. Projects must be located within 10 miles of the Wellbeck, Skelbrook or Bootham Lane Waste Recycling Group landfill sites.

A update for the Main Grants scheme is as follows:

• The 85% maximum contribution has been removed. Like the Small Grant scheme, applicants can now apply for up to 100%. The panels will decide whether they are happy to award 100% funding and will judge whether there is sufficient match funding being sought/obtained on a project by project basis.
• The maximum total project cost has also been increased from £250,000 to £500,000 to allow larger more strategic projects to come through to panels for their scrutiny.

The grants made under the Landfill Communities Fund look to improve community life by enhancing existing facilities, including play areas and village halls, as well as extended or new facilities. Organisations and community groups requiring funding for community projects should visit the WREN website to ensure their project is eligible, before submitting an application.
